HTC One S - the new name for the Ville

The rumoured HTC Ville is set to be announced as the HTC One S at after official branding leaked out before the phone manufacturer's event in Barcelona.

The information was leaked to SlashGear and there are also suggestions that HTC's quad-core phone known as will launch as the HTC One X.

According to the leak it is only the name which has changed with the rumoured specification for the HTC One S staying the same.

Same specs, different name

You can expect the HTC One S to pack a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 4.3-inch qHD display, 8MP camera with full HD video recording and Beats Audio inside.

The HTC One S is expected to run and Sense 4.0, according to earlier this year.

Both the HTC One S and HTC One X look set to be unveiled at MWC 2012 at the end of February, possibly alongside another handset (?) and a new tablet.

We'll be in Barcelona to bring you all the details from HTC's press conference and see if the Taiwanese firm can get its sales back on track in 2012.

HTC offering early preview of Android 4.0

HTC has told TechRadar that it will be offering a limited group of European testers the chance to play with the next generation of Android on its phones before it lands on all phones.

The update will be limited to a select group in Europe, but seems to be giving users the chance to check out what the software upgrade will bring and help HTC locate any possible bugs in the system before releasing it worldwide.

It will only be coming to the company's current flagship models at the moment, namely the and .

Sony finally waves goodbye to Ericsson

Sony's takeover of Sony Ericsson has been officially completed, with the firm buying out Ericsson's 50% stake in the mobile device company.

The £871 million deal was announced in October last year and sees Sony take full control of the firm which it has renamed Sony Mobile Communications.

This means Sony will now produce handsets bearing only its name, and we've already seen the first of these in the form of the .

Several more Sony branded mobiles are expected to launch at in Barcelona with the likes of the , and all in with a chance of a possible appearance.

The aim of Sony Mobile Communications is to "integrate the mobile phone business as a vital element of its electronics business, with the aim of accelerating convergence between Sony's line-up of network-enabled consumer electronics products, including smartphones, tablets, TVs and PCs".

There's also the possibility that Sony will for its mobiles and tablets – giving them a more gaming-centric focus.

Nokia's MWC line-up revealed

Nokia is set to unveil six new devices at in Barcelona, including an international edition of the Lumia 900

The line up was leaked to website Pocket Now which suggests Nokia will be bringing three smartphones and three feature phones to Barcelona at the end of February.

The smartphones are rumoured to be the high-end with a global rebrand ready for the worldwide market, a budget Lumia 610 and the () Symbian-toting 808 PureView.

The Lumia 900 has already broken cover in the US boasting a 4.3-inch screen and LTE capabilities. Now our Finnish friends look set to bring us non-LTE folk a worldwide version.

Brimful of Asha

Details on the other handsets are thin on the ground with the only information on the feature phones being their names; Asha 302, Asha 203, and Asha 202.

Nokia is looking to reclaim some market share in the smartphone sector as it has lost out to Apple and Android devices recently.
