New 12.1 Megapixel From Casio EX-Z1200 Tokyo (Japan) - Casio has unveiled the EX-Z1200 Exilim camera, the first from the company's line of digital cameras to reach the 12-megapixel threshold. Casio's announcement comes just one day after Panasonic debuted a new digital camera with a resolution of over a dozen megapixels, the 12.2 MP Lumix DMC-FX100. It's also a year after Casio first showed off the Z1000, a surprisingly small 10.1 megapixel camera. In addition to the resolution boost, the 1200 adds face detection and "motion analysis" for more precise and lifelike pictures. Additionally, the new model has a 3x optical zoom, anti-shake DSP, and a camcorder mode. It complies with the DCF and DPOF standards for images, and H.264/AVC and MOV for video. The camera is set for a retail launch in July, the same as Panasonic's FX100, for a price of around $400. (tgdaily.com)
