Manga Fighter is a Massively Multiplayer Online Shooting game (Third Person Shooter) with a twist. Players will join other combatants in a 3D Manga-style world. Players will also have the choice of multiple modes of combat and character customization. The game style allows for fast and intense combat, but with a fresh Manga-style look.

Closed Beta Test will start on May 29th and the servers will be open from 3pm – 7pm PST (US).

I'm an otaku through and through. And what self-proclaimed otaku wouldn't be an otaku if they didn't have a library of manga - true manga, and not those left to right reading OEL ones either. Oh, don't test me on such titles as Battle Royale, Love Hina, Chobits, and Death Note! Manga stylings have been used in past games before, but mostly in RPGs more than anything else. Along comes the upcoming Manga Fighter, a third-person action shooter with all the trappings of the source material, where you can frag other players to your heart's content, and look like a bear if you wanted. Forget Gentle Ben, this bear is anything but.

When Manga Fighter finally hits the web, it will follow the same tried and true "free to play, cost to upgrade" system that many online MMORPGs currently have as their pricing plan. If you wanted, you could never pay a dime, but if you wanted to pay a little you'd unlock some extra stuff that will be released. It remains to be seen what all exactly will be presented in this way, but it's fair to say you could be looking at new costumes, new skill cards, new weapons, and maybe new characters.

Before you get into the battling, you'll have a card folder where all your weapon cards, skill cards, and accessory cards are stored for reference. Here you'll be able to set what clothes you want your character to wear out on the field of play, which weapons you'll have at your disposal, and set your in-game card deck, which is the main point of the card folder. You'll be able to select a small amount of cards in your deck to use as both offensive and defensive powers. These skill cards include such abilities as giving you a quicker rapid fire, shrinking you down so you are harder to hit, throwing up defensive barriers, and turning yourself into a Power Ranger-esque superhero. You wont have the skill cards available at all time during play, as you'll need to stumble upon the cards in the floating chests on the field to be able to use their abilities. Once you've found one card, you can switch between them with the Q and E keys, and activate them with a right mouse click.
