Review: Microsoft Xbox 360

Overview

The Xbox 360 has changed since its launch in 2005.

That much is transparently clear from the updated version that debuted in 2010.

The Xbox 360 S is smaller, sleeker and quieter than the previous model and designed to banish the infamous 'Red Ring of Death' hardware failure that forced Microsoft to extend its warranty on the system.

Likewise the arrival of Kinect, which has gone on to sell over 10 million units, has transformed the machine from solely the preserve of hardcore gamers to a casual gamer friendly environment.

The Lion King (1994) Blu-ray Movie Review

The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King. Never before in cinematic history has one company released four consecutive films of such immense quality and entertainment in the span of just five years. These films represent the zenith of Disney, the fledging company re-writing the rules of animation and executing them at the right moment in history.

The Lion King is a simple story, told simply, but told well. Mufasa (voiced by James Earl Jones) is the titular Lion King, who rules over the land of Pride Rock with even-handedness and fairness. When Mufasa's son Simba (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) is born who will one day assume the throne, Mufasa's evil brother Scar (Jeremy Irons) is incensed and hatches a plan to deal with the situation to his benefit.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010) Blu-ray Movie Review

And so it comes to that special time of the year, where sado-masochism and cinema collide to unleash another Twilight film. In dubious honour of the theatrical release of the fourth of five films Breaking Dawn: Part One, I'm here to take a look at the Blu-ray of Eclipse, so you don't have to.

The rivalry between Jacob (Taylor Lautner) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) temporarily takes a back seat to see the woman they both love, Bella (Kristen Stewart) protected from a new threat, the evil Newborn vampires, who want to drink Bella's blood. Despite Bella's strong feelings for the two leading men, she'll need to make a hard choice between one of them, which will decide her earthly future.

Contagion (2011) Cinema Review

I've long held a slight fear and sense of reverence to the possibility of a force that could, at the very least temporarily, be out of the control of modern medical powers. Whilst the Resident Evil films and 28 Days Later take a post-apocalyptic view which ramp up the horror aspect, it's been some years since a serious cinematic look at a viral apocalypse.

Battlefield 3 PC Review

Finally the time has come! I get to play one of the games I’ve been most looking forward to getting my grubby little mitts on this year. Since hearing that Battlefield 3 ‘may be a possibility’ back in May 2009, I twiddled my thumbs anxiously waiting for a trailer to appear. I personally loved Bad Company and Bad Company 2 so was really looking forward to the release of BF3 – especially the multiplayer aspect of the game.
