Asus launched two new products designed for "do it yourself" computer enthusiasts and power users that enjoy assembling their own computers. These new additions to the Asus cooling line – the Triton 70 and the Triton 75 include advanced features for the best air cooling ever while running very silently. According to the manufacturer's press release the Triton line of coolers "incorporates innovative features that include high-density fins, dynamic fan speed control (Triton 70 only) and pure copper heat pipes that delivers efficient heat dissipation for the latest quad-core processors". Unlike most hardcore cooling devices that are heavy and ungainly, the Triton series offers products with a compact design and a low weight in order to be compatible with many motherboards and computer cases.

The Triton coolers are compatible with both Intel and AMD processors and between the two models, Triton 70 and Triton 75, they cover just about every type of processor launched in the last years. Here is a short list of supported processors: first Intel's Core 2 line (Extreme, Quad, Duo, Pentium Dual-core) and the older Pentium 4 HT and Celeron D lines and secondly all AMD processors based on the 754, 939 and AM2 sockets (Athlon 64, Athlon 64 X2, Sempron, Athlon FX). Found only on the Triton 75 there is a power management feature that can adjust fan speeds according to the CPU temperature, resulting in lower operational noise and energy savings.

Asus DIY aimed design of the Triton CPU coolers is felt mostly when looking at the options provided for fan changing, as the Triton 70 can accommodate both 8 and 9cm fans, while being able to use a second fan as well. The Triton 75 is compatible with just about every 12cm fan on the market today, allowing users to choose freely. For a easier installation, Asus included a number of pins and clips compatible with all sockets. Another good point for the Triton products is that the motherboard does not need to be removed from the case while installing the cooler.

Both Triton coolers have a pure copper base and heat pipes for excellent thermal dissipation and they weight 350g (Triton 70) and 395g (Triton 75) without fans
