ASUS has announced the release of the ASUS P5K PRO motherboard. The P5K PRO is an Intel® P35 chipset-based motherboard that supports FSB 1333 and DDR2 1066 and combines better overclocking performance with great energy efficiency. Featuring the cutting-edge ASUS EPU and ASUS 3rd Generation 8-Phase Power Design, the P5K PRO triumphs over other competitive MB solution. With improved VRM efficiency, ASUS EPU digitally monitors and fine-tunes the CPU power supply in heavy or light loadings, while ASUS 3rd Generation 8-Phase Power Design ensures better power efficiency and thermal performance over competitor’s 6-phase design with higher temperatures.
58.6%CPU Power Savings with ASUS EPU
The ASUS-developed EPU is the first hardware-based on-demand power saving IC controller. This new generation automatic energy saving chip utilizes an innovative hybrid power technology to digitally monitor and fine-tune the CPU power supply with improved VRM efficiency. The main advantage of having real-time automatic detection of the CPU current is to provide total control under any loading and attain the best possible power efficiency and fantastic energy savings. This automatically provides users with more power for higher loadings, while saving up to 58.6% CPU power when their PCs are running low intensity applications – helping in reducing costs and saving the environment.
7% Enhanced Power Efficiency with Third Generation 8-phase Power Design
With the integrated industry-leading ASUS 3rd generation 8-phase VRM design, the P5K PRO provides up to 7% enhanced power efficiency by utilizing high quality power components that include low RDS (on) MOSFETs for minimum switching loss & lower temperature, Ferrite core chokes with lower hysteresis loss, and high quality Japanese-made conductive polymer capacitors for longer component life and lower power loss that prolongs CPU lifespans.
Super-fine Voltage Adjustments with Precision Tweaker 2
With a programmable reference voltage setting in the BIOS, Precision Tweaker 2 allows the user to adjust the NB Voltage, FSB termination Voltage, CPU PLL Voltage and the DRAM Voltage in 0.02v steps to finetune voltages to achieve the most precise setting for the ultimate customized overclocking configuration
