New Intel® High-Performance SATA Solid-State Drive Offers Users Responsive, Rugged, Reliable and Low-Power Storage Solution to Replace Hard Disk Drive
Intel Corporation announced today it has begun shipping Intel® X18-M and X25-M Mainstream SATA Solid-State Drives (SSDs) based on multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash technology for laptop and desktop computers. The new high-performing data storage devices give computer buyers a new level of system responsiveness in a lightweight, rugged, low-power package that can replace traditional hard disk drives.
Validated for Intel-based computers, the X18-M is a 1.8-inch drive and the X25-M a 2.5-inch drive, offering several advantages over hard drives including faster overall system response, boot and resume times. With no moving parts, SSDs run cooler and quieter and are a more reliable option than hard drives. In addition, SSDs remove input/output (I/O) performance bottlenecks associated with hard disk drives that help maximize the efficiency of Intel processors, such as the company’s Core™ family of products. For example, lab tests show that the Intel X18-M and X25M increase storage system performance nine times over traditional hard disk drive performance.

Launch of Bamboo-clad Notebook Underlines ASUS' Commitment to, and Leadership in, the Drive towards Environmentally Sustainable IT
ASUS has launched the ASUS Bamboo Series notebook, a groundbreaking bamboo-clad product that is truly green throughout every phase of its life – from its conception, production and use to its eventual recycling and disposal. In developing the ASUS Bamboo Series notebook, ASUS staff at all levels leveraged the full spectrum of environmental expertise that the company has accumulated since 2002 when it initiated its Green ASUS drive – before the RoHS and WEEE directives were enforced – and utilized the comprehensive green product design and management tools specifically created to encourage the disciplined adherence to green principles at a systemic level.
The ASUS Bamboo Series is a major milestone for ASUS and the IT industry at large, as it signals the coming of age of green technologies that are no longer confined to the conceptual realm, and that are implementable on a mass production scale. It also serves as a tangible manifestation of ASUS' commitment to continually bolstering its green capabilities. Finally, it is proof positive that meeting the demands of modern computing can be reconciled with the need to preserve the Earth, especially when a green mentality has become deeply ingrained in the solution provider's culture – just as it has at ASUS.
P45 is Intel’s IT chipset. While P35 did start the revolution, it wasn’t as well adopted as P45; its lack for true Crossfire support made it a pretty big disappointment and it was just an upgrade on the P965 chipset, which already worked perfectly. The X series chipsets were simply too expensive for the average users. While having true full speed Crossfire support, it wasn’t affordable for a mid-range system. This is where P45 comes in.
P45 not only supports true Crossfire thanks to its twin x8 PCIe slots, but it also manages to support DDR2 and DDR3 along with the latest ICH10R Southbridge and PCI Express 2.0 support. The best thing is that all this falls into the mid-range PCs price point. Who could argue with that?
GIGABYTE EP45-Extreme Motherboard is dubbed the EP45-Extreme and we will show you why soon.
Silicon-Power has been awarded the great honor, the Top Pick award, from Guru3D-a professional IT website in Netherlands. According to the review, Silicon Power 2.5-inch Solid State Disk outstands among 4 other SSD products, revealing its high performance, especially in read and write speed, system boot-up time and completely silent. The website conducts a series of tests and uses various software benchmark suites, including PCMark vantage HDD test, ATTO Disk benchmark v2.02, SiSoft Sandra Storage Benchmark, HDTach 3.0.4.0 for evaluation. It is the first time that Silicon Power has received the award from Guru3D website.
