The new AMD Phenom X4 9950 is now the fastest processor that AMD has to offer and is just a speed bump of the Phenom X4 9850 that we reviewed many months ago. This flagship part is a 2.6GHz processor manufactured using AMD's 65nm Silicon on Insulator process technology (AMD will make the move to 45nm silicon later this year). It should be noted that the Phenom X4 9950 Black Edition will retail at the same ~$235 price that the previous Black Edition Phenom X4 9850 sold for. With the introduction of the Phenom X4 9950 Black Edition, the Phenom X4 9850 Black Edition will be phased out and replaced a normal (locked) Phenom X4 9850 model at a lower price point.

Patriot,today announced they will add Solid State Drives (SSD) to their flash memory solutions product line. Available in capacities up to 256GB, solid state drives are the next generation of data storage that offers greater access speeds and increased reliability over current hard disk drive technology.
"We are excited to offer consumers solid state drives, the latest in computing technology," said Meng Jay Choo, Flash Product Manager for Patriot Memory. "Solid state drives offer many benefits over traditional hard disk drives (HDD) including no moving parts which eliminate the risk of mechanical failure as well as being silent and allowing faster data access because of the lack of a seek-head as found in traditional silicon-platter hard disk drives."
The product will be available in several capacities up to 256 Gigabytes (GB). The form factor of the drives will be available in both 2.5" standard notebook drive enclosures and 3.5" standard hard drive enclosures depending on the capacity of the drive.
Last year Dell launched its small business orientated Vostro brand, but at the time its laptop line consisted entirely of repurposed Inspiron machines. This may have sufficed in the short term but if large businesses could benefit from purpose designed laptops in the Latitude range, why not small businesses as well? This was clearly the view taken by Dell and earlier this year it launched a new range of bespoke laptops for its Vostro line.
This new line includes the Vostro 1310, a 13.3in portable laptop and the subject of our review today. This form factor has become incredibly popular over the last year, a trend fuelled largely by another of Dell's laptops, the excellent XPS M1330. It's a great form factor, allowing for weights around 2kg or less without sacrificing too much in terms of screen or keyboard size. This makes it relatively comfortable for long sessions without being too heavy to carry around every day - or at least that's the theory, does the 1310 deliver on this ideal?
